Triptych: Detention II

2018
24” x 36”
3 of a 9-poster series comprising 3 triptychs, designed for a fictional symposium on a
civil-rights-ralated subject.

As the second triptych for a symposium on American detentions, these posters were required to use only type and rules. The posters show the process of detainment: beginning with relative harmony and moving toward confinement.
Change in background texture, dominance of black space, and increasingly constrictive rules communicate the sinister bureaucracy that defines government detention. Blurred typographic forms further this narrative, as they are highlighted and gathered into a confined space.
