Fictional product packaging: industrial pesticides with luxury cosmetic branding


The goal of this design project was to apply branding principles from one type of product to a completely different one. We focused on properties of type and imagery in order to create a realistic look for this fictional product. My approach was to brand different pesticides as luxury perfumes, combining volatile materials with desirable ones as commentary on the power of branding.
Mort et Peste reads similarly to “mortar and pestle” as well as translating to French for “death and plague.” This wordplay, combined with faux-European names derived from the active chemicals, mimics high-end fragrances and cosmetics.
